Luqman The Wise (Al Hakeem)
In Islam, Luqman is considered to be a wise man. He is known for his wisdom and advice, and is mentioned in the Quran as an example of a righteous and God-fearing person. Luqman was a pious man who exerted himself in worship and who was blessed with wisdom. Most scholars are of the view that he was a wise man and not a prophet. He was an Ethiopian slave who worked as a carpenter. Allah granted him wisdom but not prophethood. He was a huge black slave.
In the Quran, the story of Luqman is mentioned in Surah Luqman (Sura number 31), where he is described as a wise man who taught his son about the importance of being conscious of Allah, being truthful and practicing good morals. He is also known for his advice on how to be a good person and live an ethical life, which is why he is considered an example of wisdom and good conduct. Luqman the wise was granted wisdom because he was self-restrained, taciturn, deep-thinking, and he never slept during the day. He was very eloquent and well-versed.
Luqman’s story is also mentioned in Hadith, which are the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad. These Hadith’s mention that Luqman was not a prophet, but a man known for his wisdom and good advice to his son. He is also known for his ability to understand and interpret dreams.
